Dear Planning Commission,
I am writing regarding the pump staion going in at 570 Walnut. My
objection is not against the pump station per se but rather why doesn't the city
acquire the lots west of the proposed pump station under the open spaces
act. Chopping up a nice spacious lots adjacent to the levee encourages
developers to build on small lots and deteriotes the history and
character of the North Lawrence neighborhood. The levee and trails are
basically a public park and public use is likely to increase. Across the street
from me a developer stuck in 2 houses not 10 feet apart. The
spaciousness that makes North Lawrence attractive and gives it its character is
rapidly dissappearing and contributing to flooding problems. Please consider the
possibility of maintaining the lots east of my house as public value in the
future of the city.
Another small problem exists. Shortly after I moved into 528 Walnut
an orange stake was placed in my back yard. If this stake was supposed to
represent the property line it was about 6-10 east of my correct property line.
The previous owner, Marsha Goff, informs me there was a previous faulty survey
done and this recent survey may also have been done off incorrect survey
markers. Please check this out about the previous incorrect survey,
Respectfully,
Mel Young, 528 Walnut
