RE: |
Fire Station No. 5 and Administration Fire Station Alerting/Communications System |
Background:
Station No. 5 construction budget included $60,000 for equipment. After the purchase of the telephone system, the balance in the equipment budget is $48,300. On November 29, 2005 the City of Lawrence opened three bids. After review of the accepted bids the following vendors meet the bid specification as requested in the bid document. KA-Comm, Inc. was unable to provide the necessary Bid and Performance Bonds as required. Therefore their bid was not accepted. The difference between the remaining equipment budgeted amount and the low bid will need to be made up from the contingency fund in the amount of $13,782.00.
Items included in the bids consist of station fire radio communications/alerting equipment, including amplifiers, ceiling and wall speaker, power supplies, informers, speaker volume controls, and installation.

We recommend the purchase from the above listed vendors as the low bid. We recommend the City purchase fire station alerting/communications system from Commenco, Inc in the amount of $62,082.00.
