RE:

Agenda Item for the January 3, 2006 City Commission Meeting – 2005 Cured-in-Place-Pipe Program (Project #II05-01) Request to Approve Change Order

Utility Maintenance Contractors, LLC requests a change order for the above referenced contract due to the difference in actual installed quantities of Cured-in-Place-Pipe (CIPP) and estimated planned quantities.

Original Contract:                $372,503.84

Total with Increase             $405,399.70

Change order amount          $32,895.86

Reasons for the change include a difference in estimated and actual footage on some line segments and the addition of some adjacent line segments that were found to be in poor condition during the course of the project and appeared to be prudent to include in the existing contract.

History:

Part of the Utilities Department’s efforts at Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) reduction is to repair/reconstruct existing sewer lines that are a source of I/I. Cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) is one of the methods used.  The CIPP method involves lining the inside of old pipes without excavation, thus there is very little disruption above ground.  The Utilities Department has a multi-year plan to repair/reconstruct lines in older sections of the City using this trenchless method.

Recommended Action:

Approve a change order in the contract with Utility Maintenance Contractors, LLC for the 2005 CIPP project in the amount of $32,895.86

A copy of the change order request from the contractor, as well as a list of line segments is attached.
