Description |
The CDMMO group is composed of mid-level managers and professionals involved in the direct delivery of services in the Lawrence community. The group is focused on the departments with substantial front-line service operations (Public works, Utilities, Parks & recreation) and the departments heavily involved in development (Planning, Neighborhood Resources). These are the departments generally falling under the Community Development side of the City’s organizational chart. |

Purpose |
The purpose of the CDMMO is to: · Facilitate meaningful communication between service departments; · Facilitate consistent supervision and management of front-line employees between service departments; · Improve efficiencies where possible and increase the “seamless” provision of direct services in the community; and · Provide opportunities for this group to review and comment on organizational policy issues that are of common interest. |

Membership |
Membership in this group is generally geared toward division managers, mid-level supervisors (those with front line supervisors reporting to them), and program managers who have significant program responsibilities that regularly affect other service departments. Similarly situated personnel in other service delivery departments may be invited to participate on a semi-regular or periodic basis, depending on meeting topic. |

Meeting schedules and locations |
The group will meet quarterly, generally over an extended lunch period. The length of meetings will be two hours (11- 1). The meeting locations will rotate between facilities able to accommodate group size. Hosting responsibilities will rotate between the departments. Hosting responsibilities include meeting management and lunch, as well as coordinating any necessary meeting follow up. |

Coordination |
A coordinating committee will organize the annual schedule for the group, determine topics for meetings, and provide an agenda. The coordinating committee will include two representatives from each department. 2005-2010 Coordinating Committee: Tammy Bennett and Bob Yoos (Public works), Chris Stewart and Jim Stuit (Utilities), Mark Hecker and Tim Laurent (Parks & recreation). |
