4-117 RETAIL LIQUOR ESTABLISHMENTS: HOURS OF SALE.
(A) Pursuant to the authority of Charter Ordinance No. 35, the sale at retail liquor establishments of alcoholic liquor on Sundays shall only occur between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Ord. 7667)
(B) The sale of retail alcoholic liquor shall not occur on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. (Ord. 7667)
(C) On all other days except Sunday, the sale at retail liquor establishments of alcoholic liquor shall only occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. (Ord. 7667)
A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF LAWRENCE FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 41-712 PROHIBITING ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR SALES ON SUNDAY AND CERTAIN HOLIDAYS.
Section 1. The City of Lawrence, Kansas, by the power invested in it by Article XII, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas hereby exempts itself from and makes inapplicable to it K.S.A. 41-712, a legislative enactment which is applicable to the City of Lawrence, Kansas but is not applicable uniformly to all cities in the State of Kansas.
Section 2. The Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas shall establish hours for the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor on Sundays by ordinary ordinance. The Governing Body of the City of Lawrence, Kansas shall prohibit the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor on certain days by ordinary ordinance. (7/15/03)
