Best in Aquatics Article
The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center has been awarded the “Best of Aquatics, Class Three Award for Best Public/Non-Profit Indoor Family Aquatic Center. The attached article in November/December edition of Aquatics International, a magazine devoted to the commercial and public swimming pool industries, highlights the details of the award.
United Way Totals
Chuck Soules, Public Works Director and co-chair of the 2004 City Employee United Way campaign reports that City employee contributions total $35,301.27. Over three hundred City employees are donating money to this year’s campaign, allowing the organization to exceed the 2004 goal by almost 6%.
Medical Director Program Review
At the November 17th Management Team meeting, Dr. Chris Fevurly presented an overview of the City of Lawrence Medical Director Program. As part of the presentation, Dr. Feverly reviewed his role as the City’s Medical Director, risk factors, injury management, and various components of the City’s worker’s compensation experience.
KDOT Informational Meeting Letter from KDOT
KDOT will be holding an informational meeting for Douglas County communities on November 29, 2004 from 3:00 to 4:30 at City Hall. Several members of the City’s Management Team will attend, as this will be an opportunity to share comments on some of the proposed changes that KDOT is consideration as they work to improve working relationships and provide better service. Examples of some of the recommendations that are under consideration are contained in the attached letter from KDOT.
