NOTICE OF HEARING

ON THE PROPOSED MAXIMUM ASSESSMENTS

TO PAY ALL OF THE COSTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HARVARD ROAD FROM THE INTERSECTION OF GEORGE WILLIAMS WAY EAST 500 FEET, INCLUDING PROPERTY ACQUISITION, TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES, BICYCLE FACILITIES SUBGRADE STABILIZATION, STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS, WATER MAIN AND OTHER NECESSARY AND APPROPRIATE IMPROVEMENTS, AS AUTHORIZED BY RESOLUTION 6503

 

The Board of Commissioners of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, will meet on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at 6:35 p.m. or thereafter, in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 6 East 6th Street to hear any written or oral objections on the report of property to be assessed because of the following improvement:

 

The construction of Harvard Road from George Williams Way east 500 feet including property acquisition, traffic calming, bicycle facilities, subgrade stabilization, stormwater improvements, water main and other necessary and appropriate improvements, as authorized by Resolution 6503.  The costs being assessed to property in the benefit district total $594,678.63.

The owners of property within the improvement district are hereby advised that from the publication date of the ordinance levying the maximum assessments, there will be a thirty (30) day period during which said owners may bring action pursuant to K.S.A. 12-6a11, and amendments thereto, to set aside the assessments or otherwise question the validity of the proceedings.  After the expiration of said thirty (30) day period, no suit to set aside the assessments, or otherwise question the validity of the proceedings, shall be brought.

 

Interested parties may see the reports in the office of the City Clerk prior to the hearing if they so desire.   Written comments will be considered by the City Commission and should be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 708, Lawrence, KS, 66044.
