Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at their March  9, 2004 meeting:

 

2004 Phase I & II  Waterline Improvements

 

The 2004 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Utilities Department includes funds to complete the construction of the following waterline projects:  2004 Phase I and Phase II Waterline Improvements.  The City Commission previously set the bid date and approved the engineering contract with BG Consultants in September 2003.   The purpose of the project is to improve flow characteristics in the City of Lawrence waterline distribution system and replace older sections of pipe installed during the early 1900's. The project is divided into two separate contract documents with the following contractor bids:

Action Request

 

Bids have been received for the two projects as shown above.  BG Consultants and Utility Department staff are in agreement to award the projects to the low bidders;

 

Phase I -  La Forge Construction in the amount of  $206,097.20

 

Phase II – Emcon Inc. for the total amount of $563,939. 10 

 

Staff requests the  City Commission to award the projects as noted and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with the low bidders.
