Re: Notice of Public Hearing

Dear Pastor Forney:

The Lawrence City Commission will convene in the Commission Meeting Room, 1st Floor, City Hall, 6 East 6^th Street, Lawrence, Kansas on February 10th, 2004 at 6:35 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, for the purpose of conducting a public hearing regarding a drinking establishment license distance restriction waiver.  The Replay Lounge, 946 Massachusetts, is requesting a waiver of the distance limitation in the City Code that prohibits the sale or serving of alcoholic liquor within 400 feet from a school or church.  The Replay Lounge has had a drinking establishment license since 1994; however, its most recent drinking establishment license has lapsed by more than 60 days and therefore the waiver is necessary before a new license can be considered for approval.  Pursuant to City Code, all schools and churches within 400 feet of the proposed location are required to receive written notice of the public hearing date at least 30 days prior to the public hearing.  In addition to your church, the First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont, is also within 400 feet of the proposed location and will also be receiving written notice of the public hearing.
