NOTICE OF HEARING ON THE PROPOSED MAXIMUM ASSESSMENTS TO PAY A PORTION OF THE COSTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF FOLKS ROAD FROM 6TH STREET (HWY40) SOUTH APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET TO MULBERRY DRIVE, OLD OAK COURT, AND A PART OF LARISSA DR FROM FOLKS RD APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET WEST INCLUDING PROPERTY ACQUISITION, TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICES, BICYCLE FACILITIES, SUBGRADE STABILIZATION, STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS AND OTHER NECESSARY AND APPROPRIATE IMPROVEMENTS, AS AUTHORIZED BY RESOLUTION 6512

 

The Board of Commissioners of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, will meet on Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at 6:35 p.m. or thereafter, in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 6 East 6th Street to hear any written or oral objections on the report of property to be assessed because of the following improvement:

 

The construction of Folks Road from 6th Street (Hwy 40) south approximately 1500 feet to Mulberry Drive, Old Oak Court, and a part of Larissa Dr from Folks Road approximately 200 feet west  including property acquisition, traffic calming devices, bicycle facilities, subgrade stabilization, stormwater improvements and other necessary and appropriate improvements, as authorized by Resolution 6512.  The maximum costs being assessed to property in the benefit district total $695,887.50

The owners of property within the improvement district are hereby advised that from the publication date of the ordinance levying the maximum assessments, there will be a thirty (30) day period during which said owners may bring action pursuant to K.S.A. 12-6a11, and amendments thereto, to set aside the assessments or otherwise question the validity of the proceedings.  After the expiration of said thirty (30) day period, no suit to set aside the assessments, or otherwise question the validity of the proceedings, shall be brought.

 

Interested parties may see the reports in the office of the City Clerk prior to the hearing if they so desire.   Written comments will be considered by the City Commission and should be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 708, Lawrence, KS, 66044.
